American
Airpower Heritage Museum
It's been
almost 60 years since World War II ended - considered the greatest
and most destructive war in history. Americans were ushered into
the war after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and proved triumphant
freeing people around the world. Located at Commemorative Air
Force
Headquarters in Midland, the American Airpower Heritage Museum
has frozen that era in history, showcasing the type of aircraft
that operated during the war.
As part of the museum tour, visitors will see between 14-20 airplanes
on display. Many of the airplanes are part of the CAF's fleet
-- some of which are the only flying examples in the world. The
airplanes change quarterly, so there are always new and different
airplanes for visitors to see. They are so close they can even
touch the metal. Discover one of the finest collections of aviation
memorabilia throughout the American Airpower Musuem from World
War II and relive the memories of those men and women who bravely
fought and witnessed the battles.
This significant period in history is also proudly preserved in
the aviation museum's new Aviation Art Gallery, which features
the world's largest collection of World War II nose art. The nose
art panels were cut from the fuselages of World War II aircraft
as they were being scrapped after the war.
